Yeast Free Herbal Suppositories are MoonMaid’s time-trusted goldenseal salve in suppository form, created for women seeking a clean, plant-based way to soothe itching, discharge, odor, and irritation associated with yeast overgrowth. Instead of synthetic antifungals or boric acid—which can feel harsh, disruptive, or overly drying—this formula uses whole, certified organic herbs slow-infused into extra virgin olive oil to help the body rebalance naturally.
Originally crafted over 28 years ago, Yeast Free remains one of the most reliable natural yeast infection remedies for women who prefer herbal medicine over pharmaceuticals. Many choose it as a boric acid suppository alternative, especially if they are sensitive, pregnant, or looking for a non-irritating option that respects the delicate vaginal ecosystem.
This is a vaginal antifungal support formula—without pharmaceuticals, boric acid, preservatives, or synthetic agents. It is gentle enough for repeat use, yet powerful enough to help resolve symptoms quickly when used consistently.

Rosemary
Goldenseal Root
Thyme
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Beeswax
Rosemary CO₂
Vitamin E
Tea Tree Oil
Rosemary
Rosemary*
Rosemary offers antioxidant and antimicrobial support and assists the formula in reducing irritation and excess moisture. It helps reinforce the tissues’ natural resilience while discouraging the microbial imbalance that leads to recurring infections. Rosemary also promotes circulation and comfort in the vaginal walls.
Goldenseal Root
Goldenseal Root*
Goldenseal is the core of this formula. Its high berberine content gives it strong natural antimicrobial activity, particularly against Candida species and bacteria that contribute to itching, odor, and discharge. Instead of acting like a harsh antifungal drug or boric acid, goldenseal works with the tissue, helping the vaginal environment return to its own balanced state. It calms inflammation, soothes irritation, and supports the microbiome’s natural defenses.
Thyme
Thyme*
Thyme is rich in thymol—one of the gentlest yet most effective botanical antifungals. It helps reduce stubborn yeast overgrowth while supporting healthy tissue repair. Its warming, cleansing nature makes it ideal for chronic or recurrent yeast issues, especially when the vaginal environment feels inflamed or reactive.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil*
Hydrates, protects, seals in moisture, and keeps ingredients stable and fresh.
Beeswax
Beeswax
We only source our beeswax from local beekeepers within the USA. (Mostly near NC.) Unlike other countries, the USA has regulations that prevent the use of dangerous chemicals in beekeeping. Unfortunately, many foreign beeswax suppliers, including those labeled as organic, have been found to contain such chemicals. For this reason, we are proud to support American beekeepers and use their pure, natural beeswax in our products.
Note: We cannot technically claim our beeswax is organic, but it is as clean as it can be from a local source.
Rosemary CO₂
Rosemary CO₂*
This type of rosemary isn’t steam-distilled or solvent-extracted. It’s made using supercritical CO₂ extraction, a clean and gentle method that pulls out the most active compounds from the plant without heat or chemical residues. That’s what makes it so special.
The extract is standardized in 60–65% organic sunflower oil, which ensures consistency, purity, and predictable potency. While this is not meant to replace preservatives in our formula, it aids with protecting our herbal infusions to keep them bioavailable longer.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E (Non-GMO)*
We use a premium, natural form called Bioxan® SF, and it’s very different from regular Vitamin E.
Most “Vitamin E” in skincare is actually lab-made dl-alpha-tocopherol, which the body doesn’t recognize as well. Bioxan® SF is made from real sunflower seeds, so it contains the full spectrum of natural tocopherols.
Because it has a broader antioxidant profile, it shields delicate herbal infusions from heat, light, and air much more effectively than basic Vitamin E oil. This keeps our creams fresher, longer, without synthetic preservatives.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree Oil*
Tea tree oil offers broad-spectrum cleansing activity and helps manage yeast and bacterial imbalance. In tiny, carefully formulated amounts—as used here—it supports the herbal antifungals without irritating delicate tissue. Its presence helps clear itching, odor, and burning sensations associated with active yeast overgrowth.
FAQs
Can this replace Monistat, boric acid, or other OTC treatments?
Yes. This is a botanical alternative for women who prefer to avoid boric acid, clotrimazole, tioconazole, or synthetic antifungals. Yeast Free uses whole herbs and oils rather than chemical irritants, making it ideal for sensitive users or those seeking a more natural solution.
Why use goldenseal instead of boric acid?
Boric acid can be effective but often causes burning, dryness, or microbiome imbalance. Goldenseal offers a gentler approach by supporting natural flora, calming irritation, and addressing yeast overgrowth with plant compounds rather than corrosive acids.
Is this safe to use during pregnancy?
Yes—with proper guidance. Many midwives and holistic OBs recommend Yeast Free as a pregnancy-safe option when pharmaceutical antifungals aren’t preferred. Always consult your provider first, especially in early pregnancy or if you have a history of preterm labor.
How quickly does it work?
Most women feel relief within one or two uses, with full symptom resolution typically within four to seven nights. Chronic or antibiotic-triggered yeast may require ten nights. (The same time period for bacterial vaginosis.)
What is goldenseal salve used for?
Goldenseal salve is traditionally used to soothe and support skin and mucous membranes affected by yeast overgrowth, irritation, or minor infection. Because goldenseal is rich in berberine—a natural compound known for its antimicrobial and antifungal properties—it’s often applied to help calm itching, reduce redness, ease inflammation, and discourage Candida or bacterial imbalance. In topical form, goldenseal salve is commonly used for vaginal yeast support, fungal irritation, rashes, cuts, and areas where the skin needs gentle cleansing and rapid relief.
In MoonMaid’s formulas, goldenseal salve is the foundation of both Yeast Free Suppositories (internal use) and Flare Free Balm (external use), offering a clean herbal alternative tos ynthetic antifungal creams or boric acid treatments.
Will the tea tree oil burn or irritate me?
No — not in this formula. Yeast Free Suppositories contain only a tiny, carefully measured amount of tea tree oil, diluted within a full base of slow-infused olive oil, beeswax, and herbal extracts. The concentration is intentionally low so that most women do not notice it at all, even those with very sensitive vaginal tissue.
This is very different from the “tea tree suppositories” sold online, which often contain full-strength or high-percentage tea tree oil that can cause burning, dryness, or even irritation. Our formulation uses just enough tea tree to support cleansing and balance without the sharp, intense sensation associated with stronger preparations. (And we do know this sensation, we've used them!)
The result is gentle, comfortable, and effective — a botanical formula that soothes rather than stings.
Does this work for BV as well as yeast?
Yes, many women use Yeast Free for both yeast infections and BV-style imbalance. The herbs in this formula—especially goldenseal, thyme, rosemary, and tea tree—have broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties that can help calm irritation, reduce odor, and support a healthier vaginal environment. While it was originally created with yeast in mind, a lot of customers report that it also helps with BV symptoms such as odor, discharge changes, and general discomfort.
That said, BV and yeast are not the same thing, and both can sometimes mimic a more serious infection. Should you experience a fever, dizziness, abdomen pains, or a deeper sense of unwell, we recommend seeing a doctor immediately.
Can I use this if I'm prone to UTIs?
Yes. Many women prone to UTIs also experience yeast flare-ups because antibiotics, hormonal shifts, and inflammation can disrupt the vaginal microbiome. While Yeast Free is not a UTI treatment, it can help maintain balance in the vaginal tissues, which may indirectly reduce irritation that sometimes triggers urinary discomfort.
If your symptoms include burning during urination, pelvic pressure, or frequent urges, always rule out a true UTI, as those typically require separate care.
How to Use Yeast Free
Insert one suppository at night while lying down, allowing it to melt completely as the body warms it.
Wearing a pantyliner can help catch any residual oil during sleep. Most women use Yeast Free for four to seven nights, depending on the severity of symptoms. Those who experience recurring yeast infections or post-antibiotic resistance often continue for up to ten days.
This formula is gentle enough for repeat monthly use, especially for women who develop yeast infections with every cycle, after intercourse, during perimenopause, or while navigating chronic Candida tendencies.
