A soothing, herb-infused vaginal moisturizer for dryness, irritation, and skin comfort — especially formulated for the vulva.
Formerly known as Vital “V,” this product has been returned to its original name, Vital Vulva, to provide clarity and accuracy in its purpose. We are going back to precise terminology as it helps reduce confusion and supports more informed care of the vulva.
Vital Vulva Wild Yam Salve is a gentle, plant-based vaginal moisturizing & regenerating vulva balm crafted to support vulvar comfort. Whether dryness is caused by hormones, friction, irritation, menopause, postpartum changes, or everyday sensitivity, this salve offers soothing hydration without synthetic chemicals, petroleum, fragrances, or numbing agents.
This is not a wild yam cream for hormonal balance and should not be used as one. It is a topical vulvar moisturizer designed purely for comfort, skin integrity, and tissue regeneration — not for internal hormonal regulation. (It is not formulated the same way, exactly so that both of these products can be used at the same time.)
It's comforting, mild, free from hormones and chemicals, and suitable for even the most sensitive individuals. Many users have found this sticky blend is like an intimate band aid that helps with rejuvenation of the vulva and vagina.
This salve is gentle enough for daily use and can be applied multiple times throughout the day for ongoing relief from external vaginal dryness. It’s made with organic olive oil, organic or wild-crafted herbs, pure beeswax, and a minimal amount of carefully selected essential oils.
If you find yourself frequently seeking natural relief from vaginal dryness, it may be worth considering your own internal balance. (See our ProMeno Wild Yam Cream)

Wild Yam Root
Comfrey Leaf
Vitex (Chasteberry)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Beeswax
Rosemary CO₂
Vitamin E
Lavender Oil
Wild Yam Root
Wild Yam Root*
Wild yam is traditionally used to soothe delicate tissue and support comfort in areas prone to dryness or irritation. In this formula, it helps calm the vulvar skin and promote soft, supple moisture without acting as a hormonal cream.
Comfrey Leaf
Comfrey Leaf*
(Symphytum tuberosum)
Supports fast skin repair, cellular regeneration, irritation relief, and tissue strengthening — with lower PA levels and safer topical use.
Vitex (Chasteberry)
Vitex (Chasteberry)*
Vitex is a gentle, supportive herb for the female reproductive system. Applied topically, it helps ease external tenderness and creates a feeling of balance and comfort during hormonal shifts.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil*
Hydrates, protects, seals in moisture, and keeps ingredients stable and fresh.
Beeswax
Beeswax
We only source our beeswax from local beekeepers within the USA. (Mostly near NC.) Unlike other countries, the USA has regulations that prevent the use of dangerous chemicals in beekeeping. Unfortunately, many foreign beeswax suppliers, including those labeled as organic, have been found to contain such chemicals. For this reason, we are proud to support American beekeepers and use their pure, natural beeswax in our products.
Note: We cannot technically claim our beeswax is organic, but it is as clean as it can be from a local source.
Rosemary CO₂
Rosemary CO₂*
This type of rosemary isn’t steam-distilled or solvent-extracted. It’s made using supercritical CO₂ extraction, a clean and gentle method that pulls out the most active compounds from the plant without heat or chemical residues. That’s what makes it so special.
The extract is standardized in 60–65% organic sunflower oil, which ensures consistency, purity, and predictable potency. While this is not meant to replace preservatives in our formula, it aids with protecting our herbal infusions to keep them bioavailable longer.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E (Non-GMO)*
We use a premium, natural form called Bioxan® SF, and it’s very different from regular Vitamin E.
Most “Vitamin E” in skincare is actually lab-made dl-alpha-tocopherol, which the body doesn’t recognize as well. Bioxan® SF is made from real sunflower seeds, so it contains the full spectrum of natural tocopherols.
Because it has a broader antioxidant profile, it shields delicate herbal infusions from heat, light, and air much more effectively than basic Vitamin E oil. This keeps our creams fresher, longer, without synthetic preservatives.
Lavender Oil
Lavender Oil*
Lavender provides gentle soothing support for irritated or inflamed tissue. Its calming nature is ideal for delicate areas, helping ease discomfort and promote a sense of ease without overpowering fragrance.
FAQs
Can this be used as an alternative to estradiol vaginal cream?
Many women choose Vital Vulva as a non-hormonal alternative to estradiol vaginal creams when they want to moisturize and soothe the external vulvar tissue without using prescription estrogen. While Vital Vulva does not contain estrogen, many have found similar results using it as a replacement.
The botanicals and oils in this formula help hydrate, soften, and nourish thinning or fragile vulvar tissue, which is why many users with dryness, itching, or discomfort prefer it as a gentler daily option.
It may support tissue comfort and resilience, but anyone currently prescribed estradiol should consult if they need to reduce or wean off first.
Does this increase estrogen in the body?
No. Despite containing wild yam, Vital Vulva does not increase estrogen, progesterone, or any hormones in the body.
This salve is simply a topical (and internal) moisturizer meant to soothe vulvar tissue, not a hormonal cream, and has no real measurable impact on systemic hormone levels.
This product is not formulated to enter the bloodstream.
Is this good for lichen sclerosus?
While not a medical treatment, many women with lichen sclerosus use Vital Vulva to soften dryness, reduce irritation, and help comfort fragile vulvar skin.
The salve supports moisture retention, skin integrity, and soothing relief — important factors for LS care.
If you have active LS flare-ups or fissures, use gently and discuss with your dermatologist or gynecologist.
Is this safe to use every day?
Yes. Vital Vulva is crafted from organic oils, beeswax, herbs, and extremely small amounts of essential oils (less than two drops per jar). It is gentle enough for daily and repeated use.
How long does it take to see results?
Yes. Vital Vulva can be used both externally on the vulva and internally along the vaginal opening for added moisture and comfort.
It is gentle enough for the inner labial folds and just inside the vaginal entrance, where dryness or irritation is often most noticeable. Because this salve is made with clean, simple, botanical ingredients, many women use it internally for additional hydration, comfort during intimacy, or to soothe tenderness associated with hormonal shifts, friction, or dryness.
What are some other uses for Vital Vulva?
Vital Vulva is a versatile herbal balm with benefits far beyond vulvar care. We have heard many people use it in different ways throughout the years.
Many users keep it on hand as a multi-purpose skin soother for everyday irritations. It can be applied to chapped lips, dry patches, cracked skin, or areas needing extra moisture and protection. It also works beautifully on minor skin irritations, razor sensitivity, and areas recovering from friction or rubbing.
Several women also enjoy using Vital Vulva as a gentle personal lubricant, especially for external moisture prior to intimacy. Because it is oil-based, it creates a soft, comforting glide, though it is not compatible with latex condoms.
This salve is essentially a universal comfort balm — safe, soothing, and supportive wherever delicate tissue needs moisture and relief.
Is there a sensitive skin version available?
Yes. For those who prefer to avoid essential oils completely, you offer a Sensitive Skin version made without the aromatic components used in the original formula.
However, the original formula has been around since 1995 and we typically recommend trying it first. For anyone who does have any sensitivity, we will replace it with a sensitive skin at no charge.
Can this be used for vaginal atrophy or menopause-related dryness?
Yes — Vital Vulva is commonly chosen by perimenopausal and postmenopausal women to ease external dryness, irritation, and thinning skin.
While it is not a hormonal cream, its rich oils and botanicals help nourish delicate vulvar tissue and may offer comfort similar to gentle emollients recommended for atrophic changes.
Is this safe for women with a history of breast cancer or estrogen-sensitive cancers?
Most users with a history of breast cancer choose Vital Vulva specifically because it is non-hormonal and designed purely for natural support.
It contains no estrogen, no progesterone, and no endocrine-active compounds that influence systemic hormone levels. The botanicals are used in small, topical amounts and are considered safe for external and internal vulvar comfort.
As with any sensitive medical history, it’s always wise to consult your oncologist or care provider — but this formula is generally preferred by individuals who are avoiding hormonal products.
