Drawing Salve

This formula is rooted in traditional herbalism, where drawing salves were commonly used for localized skin concerns that feel trapped, inflamed, or slow to resolve. Historically, these preparations were relied upon for things like splinters, ingrown hairs, bug bites, stings, and areas of buildup such as minor boils or abscesses—situations where the skin benefits from gentle encouragement rather than force.

We begin with extra virgin olive oil and castor oil, slowly infused with whole botanicals including plantain leaf, poke root, catnip, and calendula. These plants have a long history of topical use for soothing irritated skin, supporting tissue response, and assisting areas that feel congested, swollen, or reactive. Plantain and calendula are especially valued for calming the skin, while castor oil lends a traditional “drawing” quality to the formula.

The texture is smooth, dense, and intentionally occlusive, designed to stay in place over the affected area rather than fully absorb. This allows the salve to be used as a focused, topical application.
