A gentle, plant-based cream designed to support hormone balance and emotional stability during puberty and early womanhood.
ProMoon wild yam cream was created especially for girls, teens, and women navigating the menstrual years of hormonal change. Puberty and early menstruation can also bring sudden emotional shifts, tender breasts, irregular cycles, oily skin, and the feeling of being “all over the place.” ProMoon offers a grounding, herbal way to help the body settle into its developing rhythm.
Crafted with the same care as our women’s ProMeno formula—yet designed specifically for menstruation support—ProMoon is a daily cream made to encourage natural progesterone pathways and bring ease to emerging cycles without relying on synthetic hormones.
Unlike progesterone creams or hormone-like products, ProMoon does not override the endocrine system. Instead, it offers a subtle, natural nudge toward balance—which is also ideal for young hormonal systems that are still learning their rhythm.
Modern life exposes girls, teens, and women to a surprising amount of environmental estrogens—from plastics, body-care products, and processed foods to residues in the water supply. These “xenoestrogens” can heighten hormone fluctuations and contribute to feelings of irritability, breakouts, intense period cramping, heavy cycles, or general overwhelm during the years of menstruation.
ProMoon's herbal blend gently supports those concerned about these outside influences. Wild yam and chasteberry help reinforce the body’s natural hormonal pathways, while essential oil botanicals of ylang ylang, frankincense, and sweet orange offer additional support for emotional comfort and skin clarity. The nourishing oils in the formula may also assist the body’s natural ability to process and release excess estrogen more efficiently.

Wild Yam Root
Wild Yam Root*
Traditionally used to support the body’s natural progesterone pathways, wild yam encourages steadier hormonal rhythms during puberty. It helps soften the intensity of early PMS, emotional swings, and cycle irregularity without introducing any synthetic hormones.
Rose Petals
Rose Petals*
Rose soothes emotional intensity and brings a calming, heart-centered softness to early hormone shifts. It supports sensitive skin, eases irritability, and helps young hormonal systems feel more comforted.
Vitex (Chasteberry)
Vitex (Chasteberry)*
Vitex gently helps the body regulate developing menstrual patterns, encouraging healthier ovulation rhythms and more predictable cycles. It’s one of the most respected herbs for early-cycle balance and teen hormonal steadiness.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil*
Our herbal infusion begins with organic extra virgin olive oil, chosen for its rich vitamins, antioxidants, and ability to carry plant compounds deeply into the skin. It nourishes, hydrates, and enhances the cream’s overall absorption.
Aloe Vera Juice
Aloe Vera Juice*
Aloe cools and calms the skin while offering light hydration. Its natural polysaccharides help relieve sensitivity and support a balanced, comfortable skin environment—especially helpful during hormonal flare-ups.
Distilled Water
Distilled Water*
Distilled water is part of what gives ProMeno its light, creamy, easily absorbed texture. When blended with our rich, slow-infused herbal oils, the water helps create an emulsion that spreads smoothly across the skin and sinks in more efficiently.
This makes the herbs in the oil phase—such as wild yam and chasteberry—more available for the skin to take in. By improving absorption and reducing surface heaviness, the distilled water helps the cream deliver its herbal support consistently and gently.
MSM
MSM*
MSM increases tissue permeability, making it easier for the herbs to absorb into the skin. It also supports comfort and calm during times of hormonal tension or breast tenderness.
Beeswax
Beeswax
We only source our beeswax from local beekeepers within the USA. (Mostly near NC.) Unlike other countries, the USA has regulations that prevent the use of dangerous chemicals in beekeeping. Unfortunately, many foreign beeswax suppliers, including those labeled as organic, have been found to contain such chemicals. For this reason, we are proud to support American beekeepers and use their pure, natural beeswax in our products.
Note: We cannot technically claim our beeswax is organic, but it is as clean as it can be from a local source.
Rosemary CO₂
Rosemary CO₂*
This type of rosemary isn’t steam-distilled or solvent-extracted. It’s made using supercritical CO₂ extraction, a clean and gentle method that pulls out the most active compounds from the plant without heat or chemical residues. That’s what makes it so special.
The extract is standardized in 60–65% organic sunflower oil, which ensures consistency, purity, and predictable potency. While this is not meant to replace preservatives in our formula, it aids with protecting our herbal infusions to keep them bioavailable longer.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E (Non-GMO)*
We use a premium, natural form called Bioxan® SF, and it’s very different from regular Vitamin E.
Most “Vitamin E” in skincare is actually lab-made dl-alpha-tocopherol, which the body doesn’t recognize as well. Bioxan® SF is made from real sunflower seeds, so it contains the full spectrum of natural tocopherols.
Because it has a broader antioxidant profile, it shields delicate herbal infusions from heat, light, and air much more effectively than basic Vitamin E oil. This keeps our creams fresher, longer, without synthetic preservatives.
Ylang Ylang Oil
Ylang Ylang Oil*
Ylang ylang encourages emotional balance and confidence, helping ease mood fluctuations common in puberty. Its soft floral aroma brings calm to overstimulated minds.
Sweet Orange Oil
Sweet Orange Oil*
This uplifting citrus oil adds a bright, cheerful aroma that softens stress and encourages a positive emotional tone. It helps make daily application feel refreshing and soothing.
Frankincense Oil
Frankincense Oil*
Frankincense grounds the nervous system and supports a sense of inner steadiness. It’s also traditionally used for skin renewal and emotional clarity during hormonal change.
FAQs
What does wild yam cream actually do?
Wild yam cream can be confusing, because a lot of information online is either outdated or inaccurate. Here at MoonMaid Botanicals we formulate wild yam cream very differently than most brands, and that’s why it actually works.
Wild yam on its own cannot be converted into progesterone by the human body. However, when it is paired with supportive herbs—especially chasteberry (Vitex)—the combination has a real impact on the body’s natural hormone pathways.
Together, wild yam and Vitex help clear the hormonal channels that often get backed up, from puberty throughout menstruating years. This clearing effect helps the body regulate estrogen and testosterone more smoothly, while also supporting the natural rise and stability of progesterone.
Functional medicine doctors who have monitored daily hormone testing for 30 days have seen this combination naturally balance progesterone levels and more balanced hormone patterns overall.
For girls, we hear benefits reported such as reduced moodiness, less painful developing breast tissue, and for those with precocious puberty sometimes it may aid with reducing the chance of starting a menstrual cycle earlier than expected. (Usually we do recommend trying to reduce xenoestrogens simultaneously.)
For teens, parents often share that they notice a calmer mood, less breast tenderness, improved focus at school, clearer skin, and — for those who are already cycling — fewer cramps and a more regular, predictable period.
For adults, many users report deeper, more restful sleep, steadier moods, reduced cramping, more predictable cycles, and—in some cases—improved fertility support as their hormones become more balanced.
It’s important to note that a simple cream made with only wild yam root is not something we recommend. Without additional supportive botanicals like Vitex, the formula is incomplete and often ineffective.
Is ProMoon safe for girls and teens?
Yes. ProMoon is formulated specifically for girls and young women with developing hormonal systems. It contains no synthetic hormones, no endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and no ingredients known to interfere with natural puberty progression.
Instead, the herbs offer gentle support to help ease the emotional and physical discomfort that often accompanies early hormone shifts. Many families appreciate having a clean, plant-based option that simply helps the body find steadiness during a time of rapid change.
Is ProMoon Similar to Anna's Wild Yam Cream?
Both are herbal-based wild yam creams, but ProMoon’s formula and infusion method are unique. It has been trusted since 1995 and remains one of the longest-standing wild yam creams on the market in the US.

Does wild yam cream actually work for endometriosis?
Wild yam cream is not a medical treatment for endometriosis, but we have many women who have found symptom support while using it, particularly for easing hormone-driven discomfort. Because wild yam can gently encourage the body’s natural progesterone pathways, some users report benefits such as lighter cramping, reduced pelvic tension, more stable mood, and relief from estrogen-dominant flare-ups, which are common triggers for endo discomfort.
It does not shrink lesions or replace medical care, but for some women it can be a helpful part of a broader holistic routine—especially when symptoms worsen around the menstrual cycle or when estrogen feels high and progesterone feels low. As always, individuals with endometriosis should work with their healthcare provider while using any hormone-supportive product.
Note: For those with ovarian cyst struggles, you may want to also pair this with Breast Balm.
Can I use ProMoon while taking birth control?
It’s generally not recommended to use ProMoon at the same time as hormonal birth control. Birth control delivers synthetic hormones that intentionally override your natural hormonal pathways to prevent ovulation and regulate cycles.
ProMoon, on the other hand, is designed to support your body’s own progesterone-related pathways and encourage a more natural hormonal rhythm. Using both together sends mixed signals to the endocrine system—one trying to suppress or control hormonal activity, the other encouraging the body to re-engage those pathways.
For some people, combining the two may lead to cycle irregularity, unexpected spotting, breast tenderness, stronger PMS symptoms, or emotional fluctuations, simply because both products are influencing hormone balance in opposite ways.
If you are currently on birth control and wish to use ProMoon, it’s best to:
• finish your current pack or cycle,
• discuss your goals with your provider
• or wait until you’re fully off synthetic hormones before beginning ProMoon.
This ensures your body has a clear, consistent hormonal message and can respond to the herbs the way they are intended.
Is this the same as a natural progesterone cream?
No. ProMoon does not contain synthetic or lab-made progesterone. Instead, it supports the body’s own natural progesterone production pathways.
Most products on the market that are labeled as a "natural progesterone cream" are actually ones that contain synthetic progesterone added in the form of Progesterone USP. You can learn more about the difference here: Why Natural Hormone Therapy Isn't Natural
Where is the best place to apply wild yam cream?
For optimal absorption, wild yam cream is best applied to thin-skinned areas of the body. These regions allow the herbal compounds to penetrate more efficiently and deliver a steady, consistent effect. Common application sites include the inner wrists, neck, inner arms, inner thighs, lower abdomen, and—when using ProMoon—the face as well.
Rather than rotating to many different spots, we’ve found that applying the cream to the same area twice a day provides the most reliable results. You may choose one primary area or alternate between two, but keeping the number of locations limited is ideal.
This is because the skin develops a local reservoir, where the botanical compounds gradually concentrate within the tissues beneath the application site. As this reservoir builds, absorption becomes smoother and more efficient, allowing the herbs to enter circulation in a slow, steady, predictable way.
Consistent application to the same location supports more stable hormonal balance and a more dependable response—making the cream noticeably more effective for managing symptoms tied to hormonal fluctuations.
If you prefer variety, feel free to switch locations occasionally, but sticking with a regular routine generally produces the best results.
How long does it take to see results?
Some women feel better within a few days; others may need three to six weeks of consistent use. Hormones shift gradually, and ProMoon works gently and naturally over time.
Can I apply this to my face?
Yes, unique to our formula for Wild Yam Cream you can apply it to the face.
Actually, many women use ProMoon as a nighttime face cream because of its hydrating, calming, and rejuvenating qualities for the skin.
Is ProMoon an organic wild yam cream?
Yes. ProMoon is made with organically grown wild yam root, chasteberry, rose petals, aloe, and several organically sourced essential oils.
This makes it a clean, herbal, organic-ingredient–based wild yam cream, crafted with the same purity standards as our ProMeno Wild Yam Cream — just formulated more gently for younger hormonal systems.
Can this help with breast tenderness or early PMS?
Many girls and young women report reduced soreness and fewer “achy” days as their breast tissue develops. Puberty-related breast tenderness is often tied to early estrogen dominance. By gently supporting balance through herbal pathways, ProMoon may help ease this discomfort as well as early PMS symptoms such as irritability, bloating, or sensitivity.
Can ProMoon help with hormonal acne or skin changes?
It may help indirectly. During puberty, fluctuating estrogen and progesterone can influence oil production and skin sensitivity. While ProMoon isn’t a topical acne treatment, many users notice that as their hormones feel more balanced, breakouts become less intense and skin feels calmer overall.
Should ProMoon only be used during parts of the cycle?
For pre-cycle teens, ProMoon can be used 1x or 2x daily. (We recommend starting with a lower amount to monitor if 1x a day is sufficient to aid symptoms.)
For menstruating teens, most families choose daily use with a brief 4–5 day break during the period, which is very similar to standard adult guidance.
How is ProMoon different from ProMeno Wild Yam Cream?
ProMoon and ProMeno share a similar foundation of wild yam and herbal infusions, but they’re designed for different stages of life.
ProMoon is lighter scent and formulated for the symptoms of menstruation, while ProMeno is crafted for perimenopause and menopausal symptoms, where hormone support must address slightly different physiological changes.
A note on the difference between the two formulas:
ProMoon and ProMeno share the same core function in the body — gently supporting natural progesterone pathways and promoting hormonal balance. What makes them distinct is their botanical tailoring. ProMoon includes a slightly different selection of herbs and essential oils chosen for their supportive effects during puberty and menstruating years, as well as a softer, more uplifting scent profile that younger users tend to prefer.
While the overall hormonal support is similar, ProMoon’s blend is simply optimized for younger hormonal patterns, whereas ProMeno is formulated to meet the needs of perimenopause and menopause. That said, there is no strict age boundary — some women in their later years enjoy ProMoon’s lighter feel, just as some younger adults may prefer the deeper aromatic and botanical profile of ProMeno.
How to Use ProMoon Wild Yam Cream
Apply a small amount of ProMoon Wild Yam Cream (1/8th tsp) to soft tissue areas such as the inner thighs, lower abdomen (near the ovaries), face, or wrists twice daily—morning and evening.
For those menstruating, it’s necessary to take a 5–7 day break during your period, as continued use during this time may delay your cycle.
ProMoon does not contain any synthesized or artificial hormones, so there is no concern for hormone build-up in the body. Meaning there is no need to rotate application sites. Consistency is the most important application.
